Refugees and migration — an overview of our work
We set great value by openness: The services of the Diakonisches Werk Heidelberg (the social welfare agency of the Protestant church in Heidelberg) are open to anyone regardless of their origin, their beliefs and religion, age or gender, and regardless of the language they speak. We are there for you no matter where you are from, and we openly welcome you.
Help that reaches people — how we see it
Intercultural competence and networking are important to us. And we advocate these skills—by providing information, advice or referral services, or by accompanying clients to appointments with the authorities—free of charge and in a confidential manner. We provide refugee support and migration advice services, integration assistance volunteers who accompany refugees to meetings with officials, and a wide LanguageMediatorNetwork. Also, our volunteers will accompany refugees in their search for accommodation—and a number of information and training events provides our volunteers with the necessary knowledge and training. If you are in need of support, or would like to become involved as a volunteer, our website has all information and contacts.
